Privacy policy

nith runs nith. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.

It covers two different situations:

• When you use nith yourself, to build and run a site, we decide what happens to your information.
• When somebody fills in a form on a site built with nith, the business that owns that site decides what happens to their answers, and we handle them for that business.

• Your account: your name, your email address and your password. Your password is stored scrambled, in a form that cannot be turned back into the password.
• Your phone number, if you add one to your account, so that we can send you verification codes.
• Your sites: everything you build and upload, and the settings you choose.
• Billing: if you pay for a plan, Stripe takes the payment. We keep a record of your plan and your payments, but never your full card number.
• Signing in: we keep a record of sign-ins and of important changes to your account, and we use your IP address to slow down repeated attempts to guess a password.
• Messages: when you contact us, we keep your message and our reply.

We use this to run your account and your sites, to bill you, to keep your account secure and to answer you.

When a visitor fills in a form on a site built with nith, their answers are saved to that site’s leads board. We can email the business to tell it about a new enquiry, and if the business has set up a webhook, the answers are also sent to the address it chose.

To keep spam out, a form can run a check from Cloudflare in the visitor’s browser before the answers are sent.

The business that owns the site decides what its forms ask and what happens to the answers. For that information, the business is responsible, and we process it on the business’s behalf. If you filled in a form on somebody’s site and want to know how your answers are used, or want them changed or deleted, ask that business first.

Jot, the assistant in nith, and the other AI features in the dashboard, such as writing help in the editor and image generation, use models run by OpenAI.

When you use one of them, we send OpenAI your request and the content it needs to work on, such as the text of the page you are editing or the image you want changed. OpenAI sends back a draft, and we show it to you. Nothing changes on your site until you press to apply it.

OpenAI handles that information under its own terms for businesses that use its services.

We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and to remember choices such as light or dark. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies on this site. The cookie policy lists each one.

We keep your account information and your sites for as long as your account is open. We keep billing records for as long as the law requires.

Form answers stay on a site’s leads board, under the control of the business that owns the site.

This policy will list how long each kind of information is kept before it takes effect.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, or to object to how we use it.

You can change your name and password yourself in your account settings, and sign yourself out everywhere else you are signed in. For anything else, including a new email address or closing your account, contact us.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.

The companies that help us run nith, including our hosting, database, email and payment providers and OpenAI, may handle your information in countries other than the one you live in. Where the law requires it, we put recognised safeguards in place for those transfers.

We may update this policy as nith changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed. If a change affects how we use your information, we will email you before it takes effect.
